Biomechanical Foot Assessment

Biomechanical Foot Assessment

A biomechanical Foot Assessment at our clinic covers all the basics and typically lasts up to 45 minutes (Must be 16 years of age or over).

Your podiatrist at The Foot Clinic Leeds will advise if an assessment is required.  Where appropriate Biomechanics may help to heal injuries and also relieve pain in the foot, lower limb, back and hip. It may also assist in improving performance in sports.

Biomechanics involves the assessment of the structure, alignment and function of the feet and legs.

Tailored advice and exercises may be given and the recommendation of orthotics/insoles where appropriate.  We deal with chairside orthotics which means we stock a wide range of "Off the Shelf" insoles and orthotics to cover the most common problems and fit them in the same appointment.  Where we don't have stock we can order what you require for a £10 non returnable deposit.  Once the insoles arrive we will organise a fitting appointment if required.  Please note all orthotics are non refundable due to them being fitted and cut to size for each patient.

If you already use insoles/orthotics please bring them with you to the assessment.

Please note we DO NOT perform electronic Gait analysis or have running machines to watch you run.  We do not take plaster casts or 3D scans to mould custom made insoles as we don't have the room to accommodate the required equipment.  More thorough Biomechanical assessments using specialist equipment is available elsewhere in Leeds which takes upto 90 minutes and typically costs over £150 just for the assessment.  If the podiatrist believes you would benefit from custom orthotics they will advise and recommend an alternative suitable clinic for your needs.

For all new patients we obtain a medical and surgical patient history, including medications prescribed which will be recorded at the first appointment. We also perform an initial foot assessment to determine vascular and neurological status of the feet.

Existing patients will have their details checked regularly and routine assessments repeated as required.
