Nail Surgery & Ingrown Toenail Surgery
Nail surgery is most commonly performed to treat ingrown toenails but can be used where appropriate to treat other conditions too. This may involve either a partial or complete removal of the toenail. Your podiatrist will discuss the most appropriate treatment for your individual circumstances and provide you with all the information you need before any procedure takes place.
Depending on your condition and preferences, you can choose whether you would like the nail to regrow or for the treated section to be permanently prevented from regrowing.
For your comfort and safety, every nail surgery procedure is carried out by both a podiatrist and a clinical assistant, often a second podiatrist. We never perform nail surgery with a single clinician working alone.

The cost of nail surgery includes:
- Up to three follow-up dressing appointments (if required)
- A small supply of dressings for your aftercare
Pre-Surgery Assessment
A routine podiatry appointment is required before any nail surgery can be considered or booked. During this appointment, your podiatrist will:
- Perform conservative treatment to try avoid surgery where possible
- Assess whether nail surgery is safe and appropriate for you
- Review your medical history and current medications
- Examine the health of your foot and affected nail
- Provide you with a surgery information pack if you are suitable for treatment
Please note that surgery can only be booked if this assessment has been completed within the previous six months.
Booking and Deposits
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your surgery appointment. This allows us to reserve dedicated time for both the podiatrist and clinical assistant, who will be present throughout the procedure. Nail surgery appointments typically last around one hour.
If you need to rearrange your appointment, we are happy to transfer your deposit to a new date, provided you give us at least 10 days' notice. This enables us to offer your original appointment to another patient.

Nail surgery starts from £399 for a single toe.
