Curacorn

Curacorn®

Curacorn® is a revolutionary technique using a sterile gel injection.  The Curacorn® gel cushions painful  corns or pressure areas in the foot from inside the skin. The procedure can eliminate the need for bulky padding or frequent visits to your podiatrist to have corn or calluses cut away. Curacorn® was developed by a podiatrist and has a long track record.

How Curacorn® began

Curacorn® was initially developed to help footballers suffering with painful pressure lesions. It uses hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body and is biocompatible with few side effects and contraindications. This particular HA is stronger and more robust then HA gel filler commonly used in facial aesthetics and can withstand body weight. The HA is injected between the joint and the skin to provide continuing support and cushioning.

Who will benefit from Curacorn®

Curacorn can replace the need for padding or toe protectors which can be unhygienic & bulky in the shoes.  After treatment your corn may not form as quickly & could disappear all-together.  Less podiatry clinic visits for callus removal, less pain, saving you money and valuable time.

Does Curacorn® treatment work on all corns?

All corns or calluses form as a result of pressure from within the skin where boney structures below rub the inner layers of the dermis.  By injecting a sterile cushion between these layers, Curacorn can eliminate the skins reaction to the pressure & callus does not form.

Is Curacorn® Treatment Successful?

Curacorn is used in many countries around the world with high levels of success.  It has been shown to drastically reduce recurrence of stubborn corns and calluses.  Every corn is unique, your podiatrist will discuss what you can expect from treatment & how much gel will be needed to create a sufficient cushion inside the skin for you.  Following Curacorn you will be asked to refrain from putting any pressure on the treated area for 48 hours and to keep the foot dry for 24 hours.

Curacorn® Frequently asked questions:

Q. How do I get assessed to see if I am suitable?

A. Please book a "Curacorn Suitability" appointment to be seen by a Curacorn trained podiatrist.  During this appointment the podiatrist will take a full medical history, and assess your suitability for treatment.  They may perform various checks including a full Vascular and Neurological assessment and pressure analysis.  If Curacorn is suitable, a treatment plan will be discussed and agreed with you.  All treatment for Curacorn is carried out during the first week of each month.

Q.  What happens if I'm told I'm NOT suitable for Curacorn at the assessment?

A.  The price for the assessment is the same as a routine appointment therefore if you are not suitable the podiatrist will use the remaining appointment time to provide normal routine corn treatment.

Q. How much does the Curacorn suitability appointment cost?

A. For new patients the "Curacorn suitability appointment" costs £50 and for existing patients this is reduced to £45.

Q. How much does Curacorn Treatment cost?

A. The price for a single corn on a toe is £299 or for a single corn on the bottom of the foot is £399 and includes 2 appointments,  4 weeks apart, during which time Curacorn gel will be administered.

Q. Is a deposit required to book?

A. Yes, a £50 non refundable deposit will be required to book any appointment where Curacorn gel will be administered, the full balance will be due at the first appointment.

Q. I cannot find the Curacorn package online to book?

A. Only the suitability appointment can be booked online, the podiatrist will book you in for treatment which always takes place during the first week of every month.

Q. Is this suitable for everyone?

A. Curacorn treatment is not suitable for the following:

  • Under 18 years old
  • Pregnancy, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Transplant patients
  • Anyone that is receiving chemotherapy.

Q. Can Curacorn gel be removed once its been administered?

A. If for any medical reason you need the Curacorn gel removing after the event, the podiatrist will discuss this with you and administer an agent that would dissolve the Curacorn gel.

Q. Is this the same as having a Dermal filler on the face?

A. Its a little similar but the key difference is that Dermal fillers are often cosmetic treatments performed purely for cosmetic purposes.  Curacorn is only administered to the foot with the sole purpose of cushioning corns and callas, this is therefore a podiatric medical procedure and is an option those with a podiatric need may choose.
